Pontiac's designers never missed. Pontiac was, for a long time, the highest of highs in American car design. Where Europe had it's Alfas and Astons, the US had the rough edge raw performance to compete and that was reflected in it's design language. If one thing can be said about the American cars of the 60s, it's that they were anything but short of power. Monstrous, roaring V8s and exhaust pipes like telephone poles gave the US it's signature sound. Like automotive rock and roll, Pontiac's engines never fell short of the mark. 5 litre engines? Child's play. Pontiac gave us the gargantuan, childish engines we never needed, but always deserved.
